Question for the Christians who think that premarital sex is a sin?

January 27th, 2011

Why don’t you go one step ahead and start stoning all unmarried virgin women? After all, your bible says that if a woman isn’t a virgin on a wedding night, she should be stoned.

IF you say that stoning isn’t relevant for today, why is abstaining from sex till marriage relevant than? And don’t pretend that contraceptives don’t exist.
Matthew, you haven’t read your bible. Who’s the idiot now?
Deut 22.20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel, (unmarried women)
22.21 then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die, because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father’s house; so shalt thou put evil away from among you.

  1. Matthew! says:

Our bible doesn’t tell us that idiot!
If it does, please give some reference.

    Jesus himself stopped a stoning.

The amusing thing is cohabitation and sex were often practiced before marriage (with the understanding that marriage would follow) until about 400-500 years ago.

Christian morality is the greatest oxymoron, but more on that later.

The instructions on sex in the Bible are largely to transfer the power of birth from women to men. It’s all about securing (understandably male) heirs. You have to control women to control the womb and your genetic legacy. That’s why rape victims are recommended to be stoned to death or married off in Deuteronomy. That’s why the Bible says nothing about lesbians and only makes references to male on male rape (which was a form of humilation, usually in war). Premarital sex was a sin because there’s too many opportunities for men and women to disrupt the family and tribe. It recognizes women’s sexual agency and would have given them more autonomy over marriage which wasn’t much more than a financial exchange back then.

I believe in sexual responsibility, which doesn’t necessarily mean abstinence until marriage. I wish American teenagers were properly educated so they would want to wait until they’re mature enough to mentally and emotionally handle sex (and physically get something better out of it). Marriage is such a committment that it doesn’t do a couple any good to not explore sexual compatibility beforehand.

yes christians should do that,im Muslim though although there is stoning in Islam but you need FOUR witnesses to actually SEE the couple having SEX,if their arent 4 witnesses then u cant stone anyone.!!!!!!

LOL Mary was a virgin…Jesus was born of a virgin…

I used to go to conservative churches that teach that abstinence crap, and I learned that the leaders of these churches actually crack jokes about 30 and 40 year-old virgins behind their backs. Now I just send my Christian friends to the site below which debunks the whole thing against premarital sex in the Bible. It covers same-sex lifestyles too. I hope it helps you.
