How to do a wedding on a small budget?

May 9th, 2011

My boyfriend and I are planning on getting married a couple of weeks after we graduate and then I will be about six months pregnant and we want to have a wedding and not do something unromantic like getting married in city hall but I was wondering is it possible to have a decent small wedding for $500

If you can find an officiant you could easily have a cake and punch reception with a small ceremony at your home or church for $500.

    Good luck!

Get your dress from a shop that has specials such as davids bridal. The bridesmaids should buy their own dresses anyways, same with the groomsmen. You can find an officiant for really cheap. Try and find a minister from a small church. You can make a lot all the decorations by yourself too 🙂
Congratulations on being pregnant too 🙂
My daughter will be 13 months on the date of our wedding and she will be our flower girl 🙂

    Real wedding .

This Bride and Groom could have had any type of wedding they wanted but they chose to have something “small and simple.” The rented a gazebo in a community park for four hours. The ceremony took place just as the trees and bushes were beginning to bloom in May on a Saturday morning (1030AM). The Bride did not wear a gown and the Groom did not wear a tuxedo. There were no bridesmaids or groomsmen, two guests were their witnesses. The Bride and Groom stated their vows inside the gazebo as one hundred fifty invited guests watched from the outside of the gazebo. When the fifteen minute ceremony was over the Bride and Groom got into their car and drove away. By 8PM that evening the newlyweds were sipping tropical drinks at their honeymoon destination. This couple spent $100 on their wedding (Marriage License and rent for the gazebo).

    make your own cake/cupcakes
make your own bouquet; go to a crafts store like hobby lobby or michael’s
don’t go to a big wedding dress place like davids bridal, maybe go vintage and shop ebay or etsy
you can save by doing DIY things for your favors & decor

Sure. Wear a nice dress and have him wear a suit. You can invite a few family members and have cake and punch. Try a park or a gazebo setting, or rent a small room in a restaurant.
