How much do travel agents usually charge?

June 28th, 2011

I’m planning my honeymoon, and I think I want to use a travel agent to make sure all the details are taken care of. But with planning a wedding I’m already saving every penny I can. Will it be worth it to use a travel agent. Or will it be the same as using a wedding planner, yes the details are much easier to sort out but paying to use their services is going to cost me an arm and a leg in itself.
Please let me know, and if you suggest doing it on my own. Try and provide a website that would help me plan. Thanks!

    The travel agent will not charge you anything… they earn there fee by getting a commission from the holiday company or airline

    I thought they got their pay from commissions from the companies they book with .
    Since many no longer pay agent commissions ,
    Agents might not consider those companies { airlines / hotels etc }

    And you will have to spend a LOT of time with the agent to make sure they understand your wants .

    Nothing to loose by checking your local newspaper for a travel agency ads and supporting the community .

    Travel agents charge normally from 10% to 20%, but not from you, they charge from Air Line they have different packages settled with air Line,and it is always useful to buy air tickets through Travel Agents, if you will buy direct from Air Line their rates are so high then travel agents.
