I am about to get married. Not enough time in the day?

April 14th, 2010

I am going to college full time, plus planning a wedding that will take place in a few weeks, but there is just not enough time to do it all. My grades are slipping. Any ideas?

Postpone the wedding until school is over. At this point in life it’s more important.

I know I’m going to get a lot of “thumbs down” on this one.

How about asking your friends and family to help with your wedding plans so you can concentrate on your studies.

No Poppy, that’s actually not a bad idea.

Planning a wedding and going to school, is not the greatest of ideas. Unless you have someone who can take the burden of preparation of your hands, you are stuck with it.

postponing the wedding is not going to be an option at this point, as you would be out of pocket for vendor costs (try telling your florist “yeah, by the way, that wedding in two weeks, i’m gonna need to postpone it till june”. not gonna go over well). the solution is to delegate more responsibilities to your bridesmaids, groom to be, or family. if they know how swamped you are, i’m sure that they would be more than willing to help. they want you to be a happy bride, but they want you to be a successful college grad as well.

You dont pay to postpone a wedding but you’ve already paid for your studies and for sure wont want to waste the money spent.

Finish college first. This is just bad planning.

If you cannot do that break up all the wedding plans between friends and family. Do you have someone that can pick up the slack? I had to let my mom do the cake tasting, my dad went to the caterer tastings and fine tuned the menu, my husband dealt with the venue. You could also see about a wedding coordinator. not a planner just someone who is willing to make sure that all the contracts are complete and that everyone shows up. You could also use a good friend for this.

yeah…put off the wedding until after you graduate, and get a job. Then you’ll have more time to plan.

Get somebody else such as family to help plan it. Congrats!
