Im going to reeding music festival next week so was planning to go strate on to next pack of contraseptive pill tommorrow and miss a period but been on antibiotics since wed and finish the course next wed. Will my period still come even if I keep taking the pill because of the antibiotics (phenoxymethlpenicillin). Or should I just not take the pill for the week and hope my period has stoped before I get to the festival. Thanks for any input, x
you can probally take both, check with your dr, or your instrucions in the medications
You can just start the next pack and you won’t get your period, even if you’re on antibiotics. The antibiotics don’t “cancel out” the effect of the pill, they just make it less effective in terms of contraception. So remember if you’re having sex and you’re on antibiotics you have to take extra precautions for the time you’re on the pill and for 7 days afterwards. But carry on taking the antibiotics and start the new pack straight away and you won’t get your period, don’t worry! Enjoy the festival!
